Warsaw (Polan) |
Marie Curie was a physicist and chemist who was born in Polan, then part of the Russian empire, in 1867 and who died in 1934 in France.
This physicist and chemist conducted pioneering research on radioactivity and because of her work we know how to use radioactivity, to make a radiography for example. But unfortunetly she died because she was exposed to too much radiation.
She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to win twice, the only person to win twice in multiple sciences (chemistry and physics), so she is one of the best scientist in the history.
